Post Op Instructions for Lipoplasty
- Medication Should Be Taken As Directed
- Do not take aspirin or anti-coagulants for 2 weeks.
- Prescription pain medication can cause nausea, vomiting & constipation. Take 1/2 a pill with food (NOT on an empty stomach) if needed. You may take another 1/2 pill in 20 minutes and up to 2 every 4 hours as needed for pain.
- Activity
- Do not cross your legs or sit for long periods of time. You may sleep in any position that is comfortable for you.
- Keep moving, wiggle toes, move feet, get up and walk around.
- You may resume usual exercise routine on 10th day after surgery & return to work when you feel up to it.
- Do not drive or engage in activities that depend on your coordination for 48 hours.
- Personal Care
- Shower or bathe with anti-bacterial soap.
- Change your dressings if they become soiled. Replace as needed.
- Increase fluid intake for the next 24 hours. Drink at least one glass of fluid every 2 hours during waking time.
- Compression garments minimize swelling. Wear for next 14 days as much as possible. Optional after that.

- Temperature greater than 100 degrees

Dark colored urine or not urinating as usual.
- Dizziness, fainting, shortness of breath or chest pain.
- Excessive pain or increased pressure from the bandages, especially if greater on one side than the other.
- Increased bleeding (new dressing soaked within one hours time).
